Apex Centre Membership and Day Pass Prices
What it costs to use the McKinney aquatic and fitness center depends on three things: your age group, whether you live inside McKinney city limits, and how often you plan to come. Below are the rates the City of McKinney lists as of November 2026, followed by the break-even math the official page leaves out.
Current rate card
Age groups are youth 3–17, adult 18–59 and senior 60+. Youth and senior share one price. Each cell shows resident / non-resident.
| Option | Youth / senior | Adult | Family | Commitment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Day pass | $10 / $15 | $15 / $20 | $35 / $50 | One visit |
| 30-day access pass | $70 / $88 | $97 / $121 | $123 / $154 | 30 days, no renewal |
| Monthly membership | $40 / $50 | $67 / $84 | $93 / $116 | Auto-renews; $75 enrollment fee |
| Annual membership | $397 / $496 | $661 / $826 | $926 / $1,158 | Paid in full; 30-day opt-out |
| Summer pass | $215 / $265 | $299 / $375 | $379 / $475 | 2026 season: May 23–Sept. 7 |
| Group day pass (15+) | $9 per person, resident or non-resident | Register in advance | ||
Non-residents, read this first: the city says non-resident day passes may only be purchased when you are accompanied by an Apex Centre member or a City of McKinney resident. Memberships and longer passes have no such condition listed.
What every pass includes
All memberships, the 30-day pass, summer passes and day passes cover the same core areas: both indoor pools, the outdoor pools in season, the two-floor fitness area and equipment, the indoor track, the gymnasium (age permitting), the dry sauna for adults, and non-specialty group exercise classes booked through the Spivi app. Programs such as swim lessons and personal training cost extra.
- Playroom: included with family memberships and the family day pass. Other pass holders buy a $5 playroom pass; the city's wording refers to children 2 and under, so ask at the desk how it applies to older children.
- Member program rates: annual and monthly members pay lower prices for lessons and classes. The city states that day passes and 30-day passes do not qualify for member program rates.
- Family day pass: two adults and four children living at the same address. Anyone extra pays the individual rate.
Who counts as a McKinney resident
Resident rates go to people who live within McKinney city limits and hold a water or trash billing account, or, for renters whose utilities are included, an active lease. The city spells out that addresses outside the limits or in the extraterritorial jurisdiction, naming Trinity Falls, do not qualify, even if the mailing address reads McKinney.
Documents the front desk considers include a current driver's license or state ID, a current utility bill, a property tax bill, car registration, voter registration card, a lease or proof of home ownership, IRS tax forms and birth certificates for dependents. The list also includes a current paycheck stub showing a McKinney business, and older activity guides offered resident rates to people who work in McKinney. The current definition only mentions living in the city, so if you work but do not live in McKinney, ask before you pay.
A family is no more than two adult heads of household plus dependents 23 or younger who are in school or live in the same household, and people with special needs in the same household.
Break-even math: which option is cheapest for you
Divide a pass price by the day-pass price and you get the number of visits where the pass starts saving money. The table runs that math for every category.
| Category | 30-day pass (within 30 days) | Summer pass (per season) | Annual (per year) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Youth / senior, resident | 8 visits (7 is a tie) | 22 visits | 40 visits |
| Youth / senior, non-resident | 6 visits | 18 visits | 34 visits |
| Adult, resident | 7 visits | 20 visits | 45 visits |
| Adult, non-resident | 7 visits | 19 visits | 42 visits |
| Family, resident | 4 visits | 11 visits | 27 visits |
| Family, non-resident | 4 visits | 10 visits | 24 visits |
Annual versus monthly. Twelve monthly payments plus the $75 enrollment fee always cost more than the annual price. For a resident adult that is $879 against $661, a $218 difference; for a non-resident family it is $1,467 against $1,158, a $309 difference. The monthly plan buys flexibility: you can cancel with the city's freeze and cancellation form, whereas the annual fee is non-refundable after the first 30 days.

Fees and policies after you join
| Item | Cost or rule |
|---|---|
| Enrollment fee (monthly plans) | $75 one time, non-refundable; waived for active military and veterans with proof |
| Annual opt-out | Within 30 days; refund minus one month at the monthly rate and a $75 service charge |
| Membership freeze | $10 per month (annual: paid when lifted; monthly: billed each month) |
| Lost or replacement card | $5 |
| Monthly cancellation | Online form; the policy asks for 30 days' written notice to stop deductions |
| Annual transfer | Allowed; resident-to-non-resident transfers pay the price difference |
The city paused sales of new monthly memberships from May 4 to August 6 during 2026, which pushes summer-only users toward the summer pass. Online freeze and cancellation requests are handled within two business days during office hours (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
How to buy
- Create an ActiveNet account online, or at the desk. Online account requests can take 24 to 48 business hours.
- Bring residency proof, plus proof of age for youth or senior rates and dependent proof for family rates.
- Buy in person at the customer service desk and sign the waiver. A parent or guardian must be present for youth memberships and must add dependents in person.
- Pick up your card, and ask for a free orientation or facility tour if you are new.
Lesson prices for members and non-members are in our swim lessons guide, and the hours and pool schedule shows when each area is open. For everything on one page, see the McKinney Aquatic and Fitness Center guide.
